AC Arena Football League to Unveil Team Name This Week, Open Player Tryouts on March 30th

Atlantic City Arena Football League (AC AFL) plans to announce the official team name, logo, and uniform designs later this week.

The AC AFL will showcase the name, logo, and uniforms on Thursday, March 7th at the Ovation Hall in Ocean Resort Casino. Season ticket holders will have access to the unveiling.

Over 1,750 names were submitted and five choices were voted on by fans, they include; Atlantic City Blackjacks, Atlantic City Gamblers, Atlantic City High Rollers, Atlantic City Jackpot, and Atlantic City Royals.

“The time has finally come, and we are ready to announce our team name and identity!” Said George Manias, COO of Atlantic City AFL. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during our due diligence process, and we cannot wait to reveal our brand to the world on March 7. We are very happy and proud of our new name, logo, and colors. Our brand will be synonymous to Atlantic City.”

97.3 ESPN Radio host and Voice of AC AFL, Nick Kosko, will be present and report live from the event on the “Sports Bash with Mike Gill.”

The AC AFL will also be holding open tryouts on Saturday, March 30th at the Virtua Total Turf Experience at 614 Lambs Road in Pitman.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and tryouts start at 9 a.m.

“We know that there is outstanding talent in the South Jersey market, and we encourage those who want to continue their dream of playing professional football to come and tryout for our new franchise in Atlantic City,” said AFL Executive Committee Chair and Trifecta Sports & Entertainment Owner Ron Jaworski. “We would love to have local talent represented when we take the field for our inaugural home game at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, May 4.”

Players will be tested on their 40-yard dash time and short shuttle with other position-specific drills and one-on-ones to follow. All positions will be evaluated.

A pre-registration fee of $65 can be paid at AtlanticCityAFL.com before Friday, March 29 at 3 p.m. Registration after that time and on the day of will require an application fee of $80 (cash or cashier’s check only). A t-shirt will be included in the cost and all fees are non-refundable.

AC AFL's inaugural game will be on Saturday, April 27th against the Philadelphia Soul at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
