Hometown Heroes 2019: JT Burks

Last Edited:

JT Burks helped organize counseling sessions for children and families of the Midget League football team after the tragic shooting death last August of coach Joseph “JoJo” Jones at a practice. He worked through his own grief while still coaching the team, comforting parents, and showing great inner courage.

JT is also a volunteer with the Millville Basketball Association and runs a Facebook page, “Positive Vibrations of South Jersey,” promoting all the positive things happening in Cumberland County. He’s active in the community in other ways, most recently cooking dinners at the Ronald McDonald House.

His nominator writes, “JT is an amazing person who deserves recognition for all his good work.”
