SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. -

A shore community asked "What's Smokin' in New Jersey?" today.

On Friday, February 8th, in Sea Isle City, community members attended an event that highlighted the dangers of marijuana as well as the growing popularity of vaping tobacco products.

The event "What's Smokin' in New Jersey?" and was designed to update the audience on the realities of substance abuse and its impact on the community.

'It has a false premise that it's a safe way of smoking or not smoking and we really don't know what's in the vaping formulas and the kids don't know and how with the potential of legalization of marijuana it would be another way of delivering that to them in a way that they don't really understand what they're inhaling," said Cape May County Prosecutor Jeff Sutherland.

The interactive presentation was given by Monmouth University Criminal Justice Professor and retired Drug Enforcement Agency Special Agent Douglas Collier.
