WOODBINE, N.J. -

Several organizations in our area teamed up today to give a helping hand to those in need.

On Monday, February 4th, New Jersey Shares held one of their many Utility Assistance Day events at the Woodbine Community Center to help members of the community facing financial hardship.

On hand were representatives from New Jersey Shares, South Jersey Gas, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and more, offering information to those in need about important resources, services, and assistance program that are available to them.

Officials say they hope the event will connect those struggling financially with the help they need so they can worry a little less.

"We never want to hear of anyone sitting in their home freezing or struggling between making a prescription payment or having to choose amongst their bills if they're having a hard time," said Kimberly Warrick, chief operation officer for New Jersey Shares.

New Jersey Shares will be holding more Utility Assistance events throughout the month at various location throughout South Jersey.
