Communities across South Jersey are celebrating a special day for local law enforcement

Wednesday, January 9th is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and to celebrate the folks at Caesars Entertainment held their third annual Hero Appreciation Day event.

The fun event included free coffee and donuts throughout the day to local police, firefighters and first responders.

It also recognized Caesars Entertainment employees who have volunteered in their communities throughout the year.

Officials say the event is just a little thank you to the people who go above and beyond to keep their communities happy and safe.

"This is an opportunity for us to recognize the volunteers internally at Caesars Entertainment and certainly the law enforcement, police department, fire department, first responders, all the rescue workers really to express our appreciation in making our communities a much safer place because of their efforts," said  Regional President of Caesars Entertainment, Kevin Ortzman.

And in honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Caesars Atlantic City will be lit up in blue tonight.
