Monroe Township P.D. Mourns the Death of Retired K-9 Kita

A local police department is mourning the loss of a beloved police K-9.

The Monroe Township Police Department with great sadness announced the passing of retired K-9 officer Kita.

Kita served faithfully with her handler Captain Stephen Boyd for six years.

She was the department's first female K-9 and served as a patrol dog from 2009 to 2015.

She spent her retirement days surrounded by love with Captain Boyd and his family.

Officials say she will be missed by everyone in the department and the community.
