ATLANTIC COUNTY, N.J. -

With temperatures beginning to take the plunge, Atlantic County officials are making sure the area's homeless residents are safe and warm.

Atlantic County has issued a Code Blue Alert that's effective from now until the morning of Tuesday, January 7th.

A Code Blue Alert is required to be issued when temperatures are expected to drop below 25 degrees or below 32 degrees with precipitation.

The Code Blue Alert is intended to assist municipalities in protecting citizens who may be living outdoors or in poorly insulated settings and who are at risk of life-threatening weather-related exposure.
