Atlantic County had an historic start to the new year.

On Tuesday, January 1st, members with the Atlantic County Board of Freeholders made history when they unanimously elected Republican Amy Gatto to be the first woman to chair the board.

Maureen Kern was picked as vice-chair.

Gatto was appointed to the freeholder-at-large seat back in 2016.

Gatto says she is beyond humbled and honored to receive this role and looks forward to continuing her efforts to make Atlantic County a place its residents can be proud of.
