SOUTH JERSEY -

Officials with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) want residents throughout South Jersey to start the new year off on the right foot.

On Tuesday, January 1st, officials with the DEP's Division of Parks and Forestry will be offering multiple recreation opportunities across the state as part of the annual America's State Park's First Day Hikes program.

Officials representing the First Day Hikes program hope to encourage residents to get out and enjoy the great outdoors by exploring state forests and parks.

Hikes are available for just about every skill level.

Free events taking place in South Jersey will be held at Wharton State Forest, Belleplain State Forest, and Parvin State Park.
