VINELAND, N.J. -

In light of the deadly forest fires in California, fire officials in our area are reaching out to members of the community to make sure they are prepared for the unthinkable.

On Saturday, December 1st, officials with the Forest Fire Service and the Vineland Fire Department will be going door-to-door to homes on Panther Road and Juniper Court in Vineland from 10:30 a.m. to noon, distributing information about wildfires.

This area is considered an Urban Interface Area, meaning it is near or among lands prone to wildfires.

Saturday's event is to educate the residents on the "Ready Set Go" program that assists homeowners and residents to prepare and evacuate in case of a wildfire.
