Vineland Rotary Inducts New Member Rev. Heather SugdenPosted: Last Edited:
The Rotary Club of Vineland continues to add active and civically engaged members to its rolls. At a recent membership luncheon, held at the Ramada of Vineland, new member Rev. Heather Sugden was installed. With approximately 80 members, the Vineland Club is the second largest in Rotary District 7505, which encompasses central and southern New Jersey.
Sugden was sponsored by Rotarian Ed Morvay.
Sugden has served as Pastor of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Vineland since June. She most recently served as the part-time Pastor of Reformation Lutheran Church in Galloway and was a full-time Chaplain at AtlantiCare, Mainland Hospital. Previously she had worked in the hospice chaplaincy of AltantiCare and as part of the ELCA’s Division for Global Mission, she taught High School English in Namibia in southern Africa.
“I am deeply honored to be part of an organization which echoes so many of the values of my personal profession,” said Pastor Sugden. “Service to one’s neighbor, such as Rotary embodies, is both a message and a commitment to action which benefits us all.”
“The Vineland Rotary Club is fortunate to have a new member like Pastor Heather joining our ranks,” said Vineland Rotary Club President Maureen Simmons. “She embodies the Rotary motto, ‘Service Above Self’ through her dedication to her church and her community.”
At a time when some organizations have declining memberships, Rotary of Vineland continues to grow, currently adding at least one new member a month.
Rotary is an international organization of more than 1.2 million business, professional, and community leaders. There are 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.
The Vineland organization meets on Tuesdays at 12:10 p.m. at the Ramada. For more information, visit vinelandrotary.com or email the club at email@example.com.
