VOORHEES, N.J. -

When it comes to your health, planning is everything, and today health officials gathered to discuss a very important topic with the community.

On the morning of Tuesday, November 27th, Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, in partnership with the New Jersey Hospital Association and AARP New Jersey, hosted a workshop on end-of-life discussions.

The workshop provided an overview of the practitioner orders for life-sustaining treatment and other advanced-care planning tools.

Officials say their goal is to encourage the community to begin having these discussions with their families to ensure they are prepared.

"The reason for doing so is so that we raise awareness within the community and that we coordinate with a whole host of stakeholders so that we start to have this very important discussion," said president and CEO of New Jersey Hospital Association, Cathleen Bennett.
