13th Case of Adenovirus Confirmed at Voorhees Pediatric Facility

Last Edited:

Health officials in Camden County have confirmed yet another case of adenovirus at a pediatric facility in Voorhees.

Officials with the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services were notified by officials with the Voorhees Pediatric Facility that a 13th resident there has tested positive for adenovirus.

The strain of adenovirus at Voorhees Pediatric Facility is not the same strain identified in the deaths of several children at a pediatric long-term care facility in North Jersey.

Health officials say the facility is maintaining enhanced infection control measures, but given the long incubation and shedding period for this virus — and its ability to survive in the environment — additional cases may be expected within the facility.

They added that there is no cause for concern among the general public.
