EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. -

'Tis the season of giving and officials with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey need your help to make sure families in need don't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from this holiday season.

Representatives with Longport Media and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey have teamed up for their 11th annual Operation Help event to fight hunger in South Jersey.

Officials with the five-day event are collecting donations 24-hours-a-day in hopes of collecting as much food as they can to help families in need.

Radio talk show host Bob Burns says the event is a great way to give back to the community, and help families in need have a worry-free holiday season.

"We get to give back to our community, we get to give back to people who may be in trouble or maybe need some sort of help to get by," says Burns of WOND Radio. "It's a terrible time to be hungry, especially when it's cold and it's Thanksgiving. So many people get free turkeys for Thanksgiving that it's a great place to donate that turkey.

"We're right next to ShopRite so they can just bring it over and leave it here, which is great for the Food Bank."

Operation Help is collecting non-perishable food items, frozen turkeys, and cash donations.

Anyone wishing to donate can stop by Operation Help headquarters, located at Chickie's and Pete's in Egg Harbor Twp., through Wednesday, November 21st.
