ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

It was a big day for Atlantic City on Wednesday with the opening of the new South Jersey Gas headquarters.

On Wednesday, November 14th, Governor Phil Murphy joined local officials and members of South Jersey Gas for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of their new headquarters.

The state-of-the-art building positions the company to continue to provide quality service and support to their expanding customer base.

Murphy said the opening is another step in the right direction for Atlantic City's growing economy.

"It's a really great step for Atlantic City, for Atlantic County, for South Jersey, and it continues the diversification of the local economy," Murphy said. "So ... obviously gaming continues to be really important here, but this is another impulse and it's great to be here."

The new South Jersey Gas building is situated adjacent to the new Stockton University campus and is part of the Atlantic City Gateway Project, which is a $210 million public-private redevelopment initiative in the city.

The building houses nearly 200 company professionals and features ample meeting spaces, training facilities, and a fitness center for employees.
