FOLSOM, N.J. -

New Jersey State Police are asking for the public's help in hopes of finally closing a 40-year-old unsolved murder investigation in South Jersey.

On October 30th, 1978, State Police responded to the triple homicide at a residence on Mays Landing Road in Folsom.

Joan and Gary Deal, both 26 years old, and their 3-year-old son, Jason, were all found murdered inside the home.

The Deal family murder sent shock waves throughout the state, and although numerous suspects were developed, no one was ever charged.

Now, State Police say they have resubmitted ballistic and DNA evidence that was originally collected from the crime scene for additional testing due to recent technological advances in hopes of shedding new light on the case.

Anyone with information that may aid in the investigation and bring closure to the Deal family and their devastated community is asked to contact the New Jersey State Police Homicide South Unit, at 609-561-1800.
