Murphy Administration Promotes Open Enrollment for ACA with New Website

NEW JERSEY -

Officials with Governor Phil Murphy's administration have launched a new website to promote the Affordable Care Act (ACA) open enrollment.

On Tuesday, October 30th, the website getcovered.nj.gov went live with the intent to promote open enrollment for the ACA, which starts on Thursday, November 1st, and continues through Saturday, December 15th.

Officials with Murphy's administration say it's the first coordinated public awareness campaign by the State since the implementation of the so-called Obamacare legislation.

Back in January, Murphy signed an executive order, which called on his administration to identify ways to increase public awareness of open enrollment.

This effort comes after officials with President Trump's administration cut the open enrollment period from three months to six weeks in 2017 and 2018, and slashed the advertising budget for the ACA.

About 800,000 New Jersey residents currently have coverage under the law.
