DEPTFORD, N.J. -

A local senior was honored for all the work he's done to help better his community.

On Wednesday, October 10th, the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored David B. Devault, of Paulsboro, as the 2018 recipient of the Outstanding Senior Volunteer at their annual Volunteer Luncheon.

Devault has been volunteering at the Gloucester County Nutrition Program’s Paulsboro location for the last eight years.

Officials say the event is their way to give back to the volunteers who give so much to their communities.

"It's a wonderful thing to be here every year and honor these volunteers. It's the one thing that we can do for them to give back," said Leona Mathers, executive director of Senior Service of Gloucester County.

Nearly 100 senior citizens attended the luncheon, many of whom volunteer for the Gloucester County Nutrition Program and for other county programs
