ELMER, N.J. -

A local medical center has received national recognition for its emergency care of patients.

Inspira Medical Center Elmer held a special celebration on Tuesday, October 9th, in honor of its Emergency Department staff and physicians winning the Lantern Award from the Emergency Nurses Association.

Inspira is one of only 19 ERs in the country to receive this honor.

Officials say it's great to see their dedicated staff receive the recognition they deserve for all the hard work they do serving patients in South Jersey.

"I think Elmer has had a long history of providing excellent care treating our patients as if they were family members, and I predict that we will continue to be on that road to quality and always performance improvement and giving the best to our community," said Janet Davies, vice president of patient care at Inspira Health Network.

The Lantern Award is presented to Emergency Departments that exemplify exceptional and innovative performance in the core areas of leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.
