M25 Initiative Announces Honorary Co-Chairs for Breakfast for Homeless

Carlos Mercado, Vice-President for Fundraising of the M25 Initiative and Freeholder Carol Musso, Co-Coordinator of the M25 Annual Breakfast for the Homeless, announced the honorary co-chairs for the 4th annual breakfast fundraiser for the homeless.

The breakfast will benefit Cumberland County Code Blue & Housing First and will be held on Wednesday, October 24th, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Savoy Inn.

“The Annual Breakfast has grown each year demonstrating our community’s commitment to compassion and service to the poor and homeless,” said Carlos Mercado, M25 Vice President for Fundraising. “Last year, we had close to 300 individuals attend this event and we expect to exceed that number this year. Our honorary co-chairs were selected because of their commitment and passion for our community. We are grateful for their support and the continued support of the Cumberland County community.”

“The proceeds from the breakfast support the work of the volunteer-led Cumberland County Code Blue Coalition, as well as efforts to end chronic homelessness in the county,” said Freeholder Carol Musso, M25 Board Member. “This breakfast is an opportunity to show our support for the efforts of over 300 volunteers, and the many churches and organizations that help our homeless neighbors.”

The Honorary Chairs for the Breakfast include: Scott Novick, Carolyn King, Bob DeSanto, Bill Whelan, Bonnie Price, Rosemary DeQuinzio, Barbara Jones, Heather Schwarz, Surrogate Doug Rainear, Mayor Michael Santiago, Mayor Anthony Fanucci, Mayor Albert Kelly, Laurie Seay and Sherri Catalana, Michael Tuosto, Ed Geletka , Susan Speranza, Sam Pipitone, Nick Borerro, Sheriff Robert Austino, Margaret Venturi, Dr. Shelly Schneider and Dr. Mary Gruccio.

The Cumberland County Code Blue Coalition was created to provide "Warming Centers" as a way for homeless persons in the community to find shelter from frigid overnight temperatures during the cold winter months. Code Blue is a grassroots movement of churches and community members responding to the needs of our homeless neighbors. The Code Blue season begins November 1, 2018.
