MILLVILLE, N.J. -

Some outstanding citizens were honored in Cumberland County.

On Wednesday, September 12th, the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce hosted a special luncheon at the New Jersey Motorsports Park's Drivers Club in Millville to pay tribute to the first 100 Outstanding Citizens honored by the organization since the program’s inception in 2007.

Officials say the event is to celebrate volunteerism and recognize those who have stepped up and made a difference in the Cumberland County community.

"These folks have gone well beyond the call of duty when it comes to volunteering their time, their effort in helping the city," said Jerry Covella, executive director at the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce.

The Outstanding Citizen Program honors a citizen at each of the Greater Millville Chamber of Commerce's monthly luncheons during the year.

The Chamber recognized its 100 Outstanding Citizens back in May.
