CAMDEN, N.J. -

Big changes are coming to Camden.

On Monday, September 10th, state and local officials gathered to announce that metal recycling company EMR Eastern LLC has embarked on a new business that is transforming manufacturing in the port area of Camden.

The operation includes buying used vehicles from auctions, then recycling almost all of the parts for after-market applications at places like NAPA Auto Parts, Autozone, and Pep Boys.

Officials say the most important thing about this new business venture is that it will mean more jobs for the residents of Camden.

"Camden is rising folks, Camden is absolutely rising, and this here what we're seeing today is one piece of that larger puzzle of Camden rising," said Camden County Freeholder Bill Moen.

Officials say in addition to creating hundreds of jobs, EMR is also investing more than $250 million to continue to call Camden home and make a positive impact on the city.
