MILLVILLE, N.J. -

This just in from the Levoy Theatre on the occasion of the theatre's six-year anniversary:

"The Levoy Theatre Preservation Society is celebrating its six-year anniversary. We are happy to be upholding our commitment to serve as an economic, educational, cultural and entertainment beacon for the people of Millville and greater South Jersey, encouraging people of all economic levels to celebrate the rich history of the building, attend a diverse mix of entertainment and educational programs and grow or enhance an appreciation of the performing arts, by creating opportunity for cultural enrichment.

"During the past 6 years we have accomplished many things. Including, operating a non-profit organization 100-percent reliant on our donors, supporters and volunteers. We are proud to employ 10 people, 5 full-time and 5 part-time. We are humbled to be supported by 150 volunteers over the last 6 years, who have donated 40,000 hours of their time to keep the theatre humming 1 out of every 3 days of the year

"During the last 6 years The Levoy has presented 661 (and counting) public events. There have been a broad range of acts, artists, and events, with something for everyone. Including world famous actors, comedians and musicians, such as: Tracy Morgan, Martin Short, Art Garfunkel, John Oates (twice!), Sinbad (coming again soon!), Chazz Palminteri’s (A Bronx Tale), Brett Michaels, Judy Collins, Opera star Alfie Boe, The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, NJ Ballet’s Nutcracker, and many, many more.

"Thousands of Children have been delighted by more than 40 school day programs offered at free or reduced costs to students in our community, and several hundred more have been our guest as “Arts for Smarts” voucher recipients awarded for their academic success.

"The Levoy has proudly partnered with numerous organizations in the area to present programming and events that appeal to a wide array of people, including PRAC  (Puerto Rican Action Committee) of Southern New Jersey for their Legends of Salsa event which has sold out three years in a row, the Jewish Federation’s Film Festival which is in its 6th year at the Levoy.

"The most important partnership the Levoy has is with our resident theatre company, the Off Broad Street Players. With OBSP, 221 events of live theatre have been presented including Broadway musicals: Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, Grease, and White Christmas, just to name a few. Most recently performed Disney’s Beauty & the Beast, which was attended by more than 5,000 people with 6 SOLD OUT shows!

"The Levoy has shown 70 movies – almost all of which are priced $10 or under. And has hosted 15 Free Events to the citizens of Millville, including 2 screenings of a movie filmed by MLB Networks that featured Millville’s own Mike Trout, 7 Millville school concerts allowing both the students to perform on this world-class stage and their families to attend to celebrate their talent, the Army Field Band and the Jazz Ambassadors of the Army have played for free 3 times to capacity crowds.

"It is no surprise all of these shows adds up to quite a few tickets sold – over 175,000 tickets sold from September 2012- August 2018. More than 250,000 people have visited the Levoy Theatre for shows, free events, and private events and 45% of those people come from outside the county."
