VINELAND, N.J. -

Officials from two South Jersey colleges came together to discuss details of a merger.

On Wednesday, September 5th, Rowan College at Gloucester County President Frederick Keating joined Cumberland County College Interim President Shelly Schneider and merger liaison Dr. Robert Clark to discuss an agreement to merge the two South Jersey campuses.

Officials say the new establishment, which will be known as Rowan College of South jersey, will offer an enhanced student experience at an affordable cost while serving the residents of Cumberland and Gloucester counties.

"A merger is a marriage," said Keating. "A merger is an opportunity for two entities of strength to come together to stabilize both."

During the press conference, Keating and Schneider took questions from those in attendance regarding the merger.

Freeholders from both counties were scheduled to meet this evening to affirm that the Board of Trustees from both colleges are interested in exploring this opportunity further.
