WILDWOOD, N.J. -

As the busy season at the Jersey shore begins to wind down, so will the number of lifeguards on the beach.

In preparation to end the season, the Wildwood Beach Patrol will be providing limited lifeguarding services during the week after Labor Day.

After Monday, September 3rd, lifeguards will only be posted at Cresse, Andrews, Baker, Spicer, Lincoln, Magnolia, and 26th avenues.

Officials are reminding everyone at the shore to stay safe and never swim without a lifeguard.

"We want you to enjoy the beach, we want you to enjoy the ocean, but you need to follow the rules for your safety," said Captain Ed Schneider, of the Wildwood Beach Patrol.

All of the Wildwood beaches will be guarded on the weekend of September 8th and 9th.

The Wildwood Beach Patrol will suspend its lifeguarding services for the season on Sunday, September 9th at 5:30 p.m.
