Atlantic County Aviation Industry to Take Flight After Receiving $120,000 Federal Grant

The Atlantic County Economic Alliance (ACEA) has been awarded a federal grant to help further the county's aviation industry.

The ACEA was awarded a $120,000 Federal Rural Business Development Grant to create a detailed strategy for the development of the Aviation District surrounding the Atlantic City International Airport, the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center, and the National Aviation Research and Technology Park in Egg Harbor Township.

The ACEA is currently waiting for Governor Phil Murphy's approval on legislation that would designate this area as a Garden State Growth Zone with competitive incentives for businesses that relocate within a one-mile radius of the airport.

The Aviation District would also qualify to take part in the Opportunity Zone Program, which officials say will help further establish an aviation industry in Atlantic County and attract new technology companies to the area.
