Stone Harbor Hopes to Extend Tourism Season Beyond Summer with New Salt Spa

It was a big day in Stone Harbor as officials moved one step closer to opening the shore town's newest destination.

On Tuesday, August 7th, officials held a topping-off ceremony for The Reeds at Shelter Haven.

The expansion to the luxury property features 22 new guest rooms and a two-story Salt Spa.

Officials say the hope for the project is to extend Stone Harbor's tourism season beyond the summer months.

"Our goal when we decided to develop the spa was we wanted to continue to extend the season," said Ron Gorodesky, managing director, Shelter Haven Hospitality. "So we think that by adding the spa to our repertoire of services, we think we're going to be able to extend the season much further than we have in the past.

"In fact, we're no longer calling the winter the off season, we're now calling it the spa season."

Shelter Haven officials plan to have the new guest rooms opened by the fall, and hope to open the Salt Spa by winter of next year.
