An organization in Camden helped make some college dreams come true.

On Tuesday, August 7th, The Michaels Organization, along with Camden Mayor Frank Moran, recognized the academic achievements of nine Camden residents who live in Michaels Affordable Housing Communities by awarding them college scholarships for the upcoming school year.

Moran says he's happy to see organizations making dreams come true and helping to better the lives of Camden residents.

"Well, it's just awesome, an opportunity that we can give residents of public housing that in many cases are tough to pay for college or don't have the abilities or means when we have companies like Michaels Development willing to give these scholarships, it just means the world to us," said Moran.

The nine Camden scholars were awarded a total of more than $38,000.

The Michaels Organization first began developing communities in Camden in 1992. The educational foundation has awarded 44 scholarships to Camden scholars totaling $115,000.
