SOMERS POINT, N.J. -

Officials with the American Cancer Society kicked off an event that's making strides in the fight against cancer.

On Tuesday, August 7th, there was a sea of pink at the Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point as American Cancer Society officials held a kick-off breakfast to raise awareness about their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Ocean City.

The walk will be held on Sunday, October 14th, and helps raise money to fund innovative breast cancer research, and promotes education and risk reduction.

It is also a way for those who have been touched in some way by breast cancer to come together to show their support for one another.
