NEWFIELD, N.J. -

Authorities in Gloucester County are still investigating the cause of a house explosion that claimed two lives.

Officials with the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office say the blast in Newfield happened around 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 7th.

Authorities say 73-year-old John Paladino and 72-year-old Carole Paladino were the only ones in the home when the blast occurred.

There were reports of broken windows to nearby homes, and scattered debris over several blocks.

Authorities gave no immediate word on a possible cause, but did say no foul play is suspected.

The county fire marshal is investigating, along with several other agencies, including a state police arson-bomb unit; the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Franklin Township Police Department.
