Governor Phil Murphy approved the dedication of $5 million to create the Civic Information Consortium.

Murphy signed the civic info bill into law, creating a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening local media in the state on Sunday, July 1st.

The consortium will be a collaboration with the College of New Jersey, Montclair State University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, and Rowan University.

The consortium, which was pushed for by the Free Press Action Fund, will focus on civic engagement and projects that will meet the information needs of under-served New Jersey residents.
