Warm Weather Brings Many to the Jersey Shore

The official start of summer comes later this week, but Monday's temperatures gave us a jump start with some warm weather.

And what better way to celebrate then cooling down at the Jersey shore.

“We’re really excited to explore the beach, and the restaurants, and the shops, [and] just have a great day,” said Karen Parano, of Wayne, Pa.

I am so ready for summer. After this winter I’ve been dreaming about this day forever.

The day started out with some fog.

“It’s kind of crappy right now, but I hope it gets better; it’s still warm out,” said Reghan Handley, of Ocean City.

“It’s very foggy and misty and the sun is out but not so much," said Michelle Siniscalco, of Cherry Hill. "We were hoping it would clear up.”

But most didn’t let it put a damper on their day down the shore.

“It’s awesome how gray it is and foggy," said Parano. "You wouldn’t think it, but there’s a lovely breeze. It’s not too hot and it’s just a perfect summer day.”

“It’s so nice. I love it. The weather is great," said Hailey Russell, of Shamong. "Honestly, this is the perfect beach day when it’s not too hot. It’s a little cloudy, but you’re still getting tan so it’s nice.”

After an extra long winter followed by many rainy days, people were happy to finally get a taste of summer.

“Oh, it’s so nice. I am so ready for summer," said Parano. "After this winter I’ve been dreaming about this day forever.”

“It’s awesome," said Anup Thapaliya, of Egg Harbor Twp. "After all this raining we had it’s like a blessing having this kind of weather. [It's nice] enjoying the boardwalk, looking at the people and just vibrations of the life."

“Honestly it feels so good. I’ve been working constantly lately so it feels so nice to have a day off and be on the beach and just enjoy myself,” said Russell.

The warm temperatures were so tempting that some even played hooky.

“Well, it’s our last day of school so we do this every year," said Carli Kelly, of Upper Township. "We come to the beach because we don’t have to go to school.”

“Today I am missing school because it’s like the last day and no one goes and [I'm] just hanging out with all my friends here," said Handley. "A lot of people from my grade are coming so we’re just going to hang here all day.”

This is the start of what many hope to be a summer full of good beach days.
