A shoplifting incident over the weekend took a deadly turn after an officer shot and killed one of the suspects.

When officers arrived they encountered three suspects, one of whom, Raoul Gadson, is wanted in connection with a homicide investigation.

The three had left the store with a substantial amount of unpaid items.

Two suspects, later identified as 36-year-old Lashanda Anderson and 27-year-old Chanel Barnes, were attempting to drive off when police say Anderson began accelerating towards responding officers, striking one of them with the driver's side door.

Witnesses say Anderson then attempted to deliberately run over the second officer, who fired three shots hitting her twice.

Anderson died at the scene as a result.

Police say the second suspect in the car was arrested and faces several charges, however, Gadson, of Philadelphia, still remains at large.

The officer who shot Anderson is on administrative leave while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of Gadson is urged to call the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
