NJDEP Aims to Get Children 'Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs' with Youth Fishing Challenge

This weekend, hundreds of families and younger fishermen will spend the day casting out their fishing lines.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Division of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a Youth Fishing Challenge and Free Fishing Day on Saturday, June 9th.

This event is part of the DEP's Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs program to introduce families to New Jersey's freshwater fishing and to encourage children to avoid drugs, alcohol and tobacco by pursuing fun activities.

The free event will be held rain or shine and invites fishermen of all ages and skill levels to come out and enjoy the great outdoors.
