This year's event was titled "Action: Inspiring Positive Change" and was held to educate prevention and treatment professionals about critical issues surrounding substance abuse, while providing a unique forum for networking, collaboration, and workforce development training.

Officials say the goal is to make sure everyone, from recovery professionals to those suffering from addiction, know what resources are available to them to make a positive change.

"There are people across the state there to help, and there [are] opportunities for the people to get the resources and the support that they need — from prevention, intervention, treatment [to] peer recovery support services so that they can make changes in their lives to lead a healthy life for themselves and their families," said Diane Litterer, CEO of NJPN.
