CAMDEN, N.J. -

Today was all about making sure families in need in our area get the food they deserve.

On Thursday, May 17th, Feed the Children and PepsiCo Inc., along with the help of Philadelphia Eagles player Malcolm Jenkins, gathered in Camden for Get Ready Fest: Helping Feed Camden.

The event was put together to help provide food to supplement meals for 800 Camden families in need.

Organizers said events like this one are important because no family should ever have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

"Just being able to serve the 800 families, I mean we'd love to do more, but really just having the 800 families come in today and be able to supply them with everything they need it really what our goal is," said Eric Frank sales director of PepsiCo Inc.

Today's event helped kick off a larger initiative between PepsiCo Inc., and Feed the Children to help feed communities in cities throughout the country.
