MILLVILLE, N.J. -

Back in December 2017, SNJ Today, along with community leaders and volunteers in Cumberland County, put on the Heart to Heart Puerto Rico Telethon to help the victims of Hurricane Maria.

And with your support, we managed to raise thousands of dollars worth of supplies to help.

On Tuesday, May 15th, Dr. Rodney Hart with Teen Challenge of Puerto Rico stopped by our studios to share how your donations have helped those in Puerto Rico who are still recovering from the devastation left behind by the storm.

And while there is still a lot of work that needs to be done on the island, Hart says the future of Puerto Rico is looking bright.

"For those that are on the island ... the future of the island, I think that there's a new future coming," said Hart. "I think that chaos has a way of making things happen and what we see on the ground, what I see on the ground at the grassroots level is very encouraging."
