ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

The United States Coast Guard came to the rescue of a 51-year-old man who was out at sea over the weekend.

On Sunday, May 6th, a crew member aboard a fishing boat that was 65 miles off the coast of Atlantic City, called watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay to report that the 51-year-old was having difficulty breathing.

A helicopter was then launched from the Coast Guard's Atlantic City station and was used to airlift the man to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center's Trauma Center.

Officials say the rescue was a challenge because of fog but thanks to their training, crew members were able to successfully get the victim to the shore for the medical care he needed.
