CAPE MAY, N.J. -

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard sprang into action this weekend to save a man who's kayak capsized near the Cape May Inlet.

Officials say on Sunday, April 8th, at around 11 a.m., a commercial fisherman contacted watchstanders at Sector Delaware Bay’s Command Center in Philadelphia to report a person in the water with a capsized kayak.

Sector Delaware Bay launched a 29-foot response boat and when crew members arrived to the scene, they were able to safely remove the man from the water and transport him to shore where local EMS were waiting to evaluate him.

Officials say the good Samaritan who made the call helped save the man's life and are reminding citizens that if they see something to say something so they too can help save lives.
