VOORHEES, N.J. -

Members of one South Jersey community got the chance to enjoy a cup of joe with the men and women who work to keep them safe.

On Friday, April 6th, the Voorhees Police Department held a Coffee with a Cop event at the Panera Bread on White Horse Road.

The event is just one of the many ways the Voorhees Police Department is working to create a strong bond between them and the residents they serve.

"A lot of times our residents you know only meet us unfortunately when they call 911 because of something going on in their lives," said Lt. William Walsh of the Voorhees Police Department.

"Coffee with a Cop, types of events, gets us to meet our residents under conditions where it's relaxed and they can ask us questions and get feedback about things going on in their community."
