National Pi Day, A Tasty Celebration for Math Lovers

NEW JERSEY -

Every year, math and pastry lovers are brought together on one special day — National Pi Day.

March 14th (3/14) is called Pi Day in honor of the Greek letter Pi, which is used in mathematics to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter (approximately 3.14), and this year it falls on a Wednesday.

According to a survey conducted by nationaltoday.com, only 66-percent of Americans answered correctly when asked what the measure of pi is and one in 5 have no idea what the concept of pi even is.

Whether you know pi or not, you can still celebrate by eating a piece of your favorite type of pie.
