It was all about giving at Stockton University and the giving spirit is only going to continue as the day comes to end.

From Sunday, February 18th, until Monday, February 19th, Stockton held its first Ospreys Give fundraising marathon, which is calling on students, faculty, alumni, and members of the community to "give back, get back, and make an impact."

The giving event asked the Stockton community to spend 1,969 minutes, or 33 hours, supporting an academic program, school, scholarship or athletic team at the university.

Officials say the day and a half event is just one way to show how much the Stockton community cares about their school.

"The first year is hard to see how people are going to take it, but right now it seems everyone's really excited and just proud to be part of Stockton and making a gift to an area that is meaningful to them," said Kelly Brennan, assistant director of annual giving at Stockton University.

The 1,969 minutes spent during the Ospreys Give event symbolizes the year the New Jersey legislature approved the formation of what is now Stockton University.

Funds will continue to be raised until 11:49 p.m. on Monday, February 19th.

Those that stopped by to show their support today got to enjoy giveaways, a cash booth, entertainment, and a sushi demonstration.
