Hometown Heroes 2018: Kim Kell

Last Edited:

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J.—Kim Kell conquered many visual obstacles in her younger life. Through perseverance, patience, surgery, and support of her parents, she was able to overcome the obstacle that she was told would be a forever diagnosis. She was persistent in following her dream of being a music teacher. For the past 31 years, she has been an elementary music teacher at Marie D. Durand Elementary School.

Going above and beyond the job description, she produces and directs all the musical programs, holiday shows and Durand TV shows at the school. Kim has helped with other productions in the school district. She and her family are instrumental in the music ministry at the Padre Pio Parish Church in Vineland. They spread the Word through song at the 5 p.m. Saturday mass and at many other church functions. This educator, mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend has certainly overcome early obstacles and made a difference in our community.
