Hometown Heroes 2018: Nina Young

Last Edited:

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. – Nina Young has worked as a coordinator for Bridgeton’s Code Blue since the November 2014-15 season, which was the second year of its existence. The daily operations of Code Blue would not have worked so seamlessly without her coordination skills.

She humbly notes that “Mayor Albert B. Kelly and Pastor Robin Weinstein had faith in me to continue their work ... providing a Warming Center for those who had nowhere to sleep during the cold winter nights. Code Blue is a team effort supported by volunteers, churches, restaurants, local and government officials, as well as private and public donors who have come together to offer their time and money to aide in the plight of our homeless population.”

Nina’s nominator concludes: “Nina is a hero to me and a role model for many women in our community.”
