Estell Manor Elects New Mayor After November Tie

ESTELL MANOR, N.J. -

An Atlantic County community finally has a new mayor after their November election ended in a tie.

On Tuesday, February 6th, residents in Estell Manor turned out to cast their vote for the second time to decide which candidate would take over as the city's mayor.

After counting the votes it looks like Joe Venezia has won the seat — but not by much.

In what appears to be another close call, Venezia beat out his opponent, Stephen Teasenfitz, who was running for re-election, by just three votes.

The vote count is yet to be certified official by the Atlantic County Clerk's Office, but Venezia tells SNJ Today News that he won by 20 votes once absentee ballots were factored in.

Venezia served as the mayor of Estell Manor for nearly a decade before Teasenfitz came into office.

The city council president has been filling in as mayor until the re-election could take place.
