Jumping into bone-chilling water of Union Lake wearing nothing but a speedo and some flip-flops in the dead of winter may seem crazy to most people, but for those die-hard swimmers, it's worth the goose bumps.
On Saturday, February 24th, at 11am, the Millville Recreation Department, along with Rocap-Shannon Memorial Funeral Home and Millville Chiropractic, will host its 15th annual "Snowflake Plunge" at Union Lake Park.
A $300 amount donated by Rocap Shannon and Millville Chiropractic will be for a scholarship to a member of the Millville High School swim team "who most improved" during their season and all other money will be donated to the 2018 Susan G. Komen three-day walk.
A $10 and pre-registration fee for participating in the frigid waters.
All participants are encouraged to pre-register for the fun event by obtaining a registration form from the Recreation Department at 416 S. 15th Street.
You must be at least 10 years of age to participate, and anyone between the ages of 10 years to 17 years old, must be accompanied by an adult.
You do not have to be a Millville resident to participate, but must be in good health.
(If the cold water isn't your thing… Mr. X (International Man of Mystery) will do it for you.)
For further information on the Snowflake Plunge and how to participate, contact Millville Recreation at 856-825-7000, ext. 7394.
