ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

The year 2017 was a good one for Atlantic City's casinos.

According to new State Division of Gaming Enforcement figures released on Friday, January 12th, the city's seven remaining casinos earned more than $2.6 billion last year, which is a 2.2-percent increase from 2016.

This is the second year in a row that revenue was up for the casinos following a decade of revenue declines and after five of the city's 12 casinos shut down.

Internet gambling is mainly to thank, earning the casinos $245 million in the last year.

The Borgata posted the highest earnings for the year bringing in more than $800 million.
