The topic of legalizing marijuana in the State of New Jersey is once again up for debate in the State Legislature.
On Tuesday, January 9th, lawmakers new and old took their seats and kicked off the new session by introducing a new measure to allow recreational use of marijuana in the state.
The new legislation is identical to a measure introduced during the previous session that legalized recreational use for those 21 and older.
Current Governor Chris Christie has been a vocal opponent of the idea, but incoming Governor-elect Phil Murphy supported legalization of marijuana for recreational use during his campaign.
Murphy is set to take the oath of office on Tuesday, January 16th.
