VINELAND, N.J. -

A life-long Vineland resident fulfilled her dreams by opening her own beauty salon and celebrated an official ribbon cutting with the mayor and several others.

Jennifer Smith, the owner of Salon 191, located at 3722 E. Landis Avenue., gained experience working at a number of salons before opening her first shop four years ago on Brewster Road in Vineland. She decided to expand her business and moved to the new location late in 2017.

"I have learned over the years you have to work hard and take risks if you want to grow and succeed," said Smith.

Mayor Anthony Fanucci was on hand to celebrate with Smith and was pleased that one of Vineland's own is achieving her goals.

"It's wonderful to see someone born and raised in Vineland pursuing the dream of owning their own business," said Mayor Fanucci. "I am happy to be here to show my support."

He also sees the new salon as another positive development, not only for Smith, but also for the growth of Landis Avenue.

"2017 was a good year for new business activity along Landis Avenue, as we saw almost 30 new businesses open their doors," said Fanucci. "Best wishes to Jennifer, her excellent staff, and to all of our business owners throughout the city for a very successful 2018."

Salon 191 offers a full array of hair and nail services in a warm intimate setting, and according to Smith, "was designed to feel as comfortable as if you were coming to my home."
