Despite Freezing Weather, Polar Bear Plunge Held in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

The freezing temperatures could not keep Polar Bear Plunge participants in Atlantic City from partaking in their annual New Year's Day tradition.

On Monday, January 1st, 2018, many braved the cold weather, stripping down to their bathing suits to literally dive into the new year and the freezing Atlantic Ocean.

Atlantic City was the only Jersey Shore community to hold their Polar Plunge event on New Year's Day, following several cancellations in nearby towns.

Brigantine and Margate officials rescheduled their events to later this month, while Ventnor and Ocean City canceled theirs outright due to safety concerns surrounding the freezing conditions.
